This workshop reports the latest interdisciplinary research on developing novel data science and artificial intelligence methodologies to capitalize on the rich “big data” of human mobility, contact tracing, imaging, virology, bioinformatics, clinical, etc. to confront infectious diseases, with a particular focus on combating the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
JUPAS applicants, come and get an in-depth understanding of our Data Science Programmes at the JUPAS Consultation Day 2021.
The Workshop aims to provide a platform for innovative creation, development, and dissemination of research ideas and results on high-speed rail and metro systems with local, regional, and international professionals from government, academia and private sector.

High dimensional and big data relate to every science discipline and every facet of life. Data science tools allow the user to extract important features to decipher information and events behind big data. In this lecture, Professor Qin introduces some fascinating tools from others and from his work that are illuminating, fancy, and informative.

President Way Kuo was invited to deliver a plenary speech in the 9th Asia-Pacific International Symposium on Advanced Reliability and Maintenance Modelling (APARM 2020) on Data-driven Crisis Management. The APARM conference series, held bi-annually, took place in Vancouver, Canada during August 20 - 23, 2020.
The Day will begin by the President Way Kuo’s opening address. World-renowned Artificial Intelligence scholar and entrepreneur, Dr Kai-Fu Lee, will deliver the keynote speech through online platform. The Day will feature two technical sessions to showcase HKIDS project presentations by faculties across CityU.
One ultimate goal of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is to build a machine/system that can learn by itself, via interactions with the environment. One successful example is AlphaGo, an AI that plays the board game Go with world-class performance. The underlying framework that builds AlphaGo is called Reinforcement Learning (RL), a standard paradigm where an AI can respond to the environment.
