SDSC’s PhD alumna excels in regional data science competition
A team comprising five young data science researchers, one from the School of Data Science at CityU and the other four from Tsinghua University, snatched two outstanding awards at the First China Intelligent Transportation Innovation Challenge 2023. The team attended the presentation ceremony at the 18th China Intelligent Transportation Annual Conference 2023 (ITSAC 2023) held in Xiamen from 14-17 November 2023.
Led by team leader Dr. Xinting ZHU, a 2023 SDSC Ph.D. graduate and currently a post-doctoral research staff of CityU’s Hong Kong Institute for Data Science supervised by Professor Lishuai LI, the project “Air traffic flow prediction based on ADS-B data” won the merit award whilst her team’s another project “Network and Data Security for Connected Intelligent Vehicles” received the 2nd Award. Their research cover many fields such as automobiles, railways, and civil aviation, and reflect new technologies, new products, new business formats, and new modes in the fields related to intelligent transportation.
The 2023 First China Intelligent Transportation Innovation Challenge is one of the three major theme activities of the 2023 China Intelligent Transportation Conference. It aims to build a high-level competitive platform in the transportation industry and support industry innovation, collaboration, and sustainable development. This challenge focuses on exploring the application potential of data science in the transportation industry, gathering various institutions of government, industry, academia, investment, and research on intelligent transportation, aiming to help innovative companies and teams with innovative vitality and potential to match high-quality resources, providing a precise docking channel for the transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements.
This competition brought together over 200 teams from China enterprises, universities and research institutes. Those awards are the recognition of their collective intelligence and acknowledgment of the values of their innovation and inspiration.
