School of Data Science Dr. Xinyue Li Snatches Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury at Geneva Inventions 2023

A consultant team consisting of three CityU scholars, including Dr. Xinyue LI, Assistant Professor of the School of Data Science; Dr. Condon LAU, Associate Professor of Department of Physics; and Dr. Fraser HILL, Director of CityU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, received the Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury at the 48th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva 2023 – a leading annual event devoted exclusively to inventions globally.

The winning project – “AIstain: Virtual Immunostaining for Veterinary Pathology”presented by ITsci Company Limited, is a start-up under HK Tech 300, a CityU’s large-scale flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme. AIstain is a generative AI tool for virtual tissue staining that is much faster, cheaper and easier to use than conventional veterinary pathology tools advancing cancer diagnostics.

The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, from its debut in 1972, is the world’s most important event exclusively dedicated to inventions. It is organized under the patronage of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), International Federation of Inventors Associations (IFIA) as well as the Swiss Federal and State Governments and the City of Geneva. With its leading global standing and scale, it is recognized as the most important global event showcasing innovations and inventions from all over the world.

In its 48th session held from 26 to 30 April 2023, the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva featured 1,000 inventions and new products, 725 exhibitors from 45 countries, and more than 30,000 visitors from all five continents. All exhibited inventions were evaluated by an international jury of specialists.
