Professor Yining DONG makes the list of Excellent Young Scientists Fund from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for 2023

At the beginning of academic year 2023/24, we proudly present to you one of our most recent and noteworthy achievements.

We are excited to announce that Professor Yining DONG, Assistant Professor of the School of Data Science, has been awarded the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Hong Kong and Macau) by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for 2023. The NSFC has been supporting basic research and fostering talented researchers, aiming to develop international cooperation and promote socioeconomic development. Professor DONG will receive a funding amount of RMB2M for her project entitled “Big Data Analytics in the Process Industry”. This achievement highlights her outstanding research capabilities in the field.

The Excellent Young Scientists Fund has supported young male scientists under the age of 38 and female scientists under the age of 40 in Hong Kong and Macau since 2019. 25 awards are granted in Hong Kong and Macau each year, empowering promising researchers to make significant contributions to their fields. This fund is highly competitive and is granted annually to support young scientists with outstanding achievements in basic research to conduct innovative research in their areas of interest and expertise. This year, five of our exceptional young academics at CityU received this great honor.
