Twelve Scholars affiliated with the School of Data Science (SDSC) are recognized in Stanford’s List of World’s Top 2% Scientists
We are proud to share that twelve faculty members affiliated with SDSC have been recognized as Top 2% of the World’s Most Cited Scholars by the Stanford-Elsevier indicators. The lists were published in October and November 2022 respectively.
The selection ranked the top 100,000 scientists by citation score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above in their specialty field. The list is based on two sets of categorizations. Career-long consists of data running up to the end of 2021; whereas Single Year data pertained to citations received during calendar year 2021. The list was prepared by a team of experts from Stanford University. It identifies scientists and social scientists who have demonstrated significant and broad influence, reflected in the publication of multiple papers frequently cited by their peers during the last decade. This publicly available database provides continually updated information on the work of the world’s top scientists including standardized information on citations, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, citations of papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.

More than 170 CityU faculty members are listed among the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world. This achievement reflects the excellent academic standards and outstanding research performance of CityU faculties. Compared to faculty size, CityU's percentage of the top 2% of the world’s most highly cited scientists is among the top 100 in the world, while only a very few universities in Asia made the list.
