This workshop will introduce “data science” to students through a small scale data science project.

S4–S6 students

WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS LEARN
Students can join either one of the workshops to learn:
• what is data science;
• what do data scientists do; and
• how to execute a small scale data science project.

WHAT WILL THE STUDENTS DO
Execute a small data science project by using mobile phone to read handwritten letters (data) through the application of illustrative software supplied at the workshop.

PRE-REQUISITE REQUIREMENTS
• A smartphone (needed during the workshop)
• Interest in mathematics and/or computer studies and/or data science
